About Donnyboys
Donnyboys is a project built around visiting every McDonald’s location in the United States and documenting the journey along the way. I started this challenge in July 2024 when I was 18 years old. What began as a joke—just an idea to travel the country and visit McDonald’s—quickly turned into something much bigger. The idea started gaining attention online, went viral, and evolved into a real challenge. What was once just for fun is now a long-term mission.
About Me
I’m originally from Hartland, Wisconsin, and I created this project as a way to combine travel, content creation, and doing something completely different. I’ve always been interested in travel and building something unique, and this challenge gave me a way to do both at the same time. Instead of following a typical path, I decided to pursue something that hadn’t really been done before. Since starting Donnyboys, I’ve traveled thousands of miles across the country, visiting McDonald’s locations in different cities and states. Each trip adds to the bigger picture of what this project is about. This isn’t just about fast food—it’s about the journey, the consistency (or inconsistency) of locations, and documenting real experiences across the country.
How It Started
The idea originally started as a joke—to travel the country and visit McDonald’s locations just for fun. But as I began posting content, it quickly gained traction. More people started watching, engaging, and following along. What seemed like a random idea turned into something people were genuinely interested in.
That’s when it shifted from a joke into a real challenge.
The Goal
The goal of Donnyboys is simple, but extremely ambitious: To visit every McDonald’s location in the United States. There are over 13,000 locations nationwide, and no one has fully documented all of them. This project is about becoming one of the first—and possibly the only—people to complete that journey and build a record of it. It’s not just about reaching the number—it’s about everything that comes with it: the travel, the different locations, and the experience at each stop.
The Journey So Far
Since starting this project, I’ve visited McDonald’s locations in 9 different states and traveled thousands of miles to continue the challenge. Every location represents a real stop along the way, and each one adds to the larger goal. Some locations are fast and consistent, while others are completely different from what you would expect. That’s part of what makes this journey interesting.
Progress
So far, I’ve visited [432] McDonald’s locations, and the number continues to grow as I travel to new cities and states.
This is an ongoing journey, and there’s still a long way to go.
